Veterinarians

 

Dr. Ginger Macaulay attended Clemson University and graduated from the University of Georgia Veterinary College in 1984.  Born and raised in the Lexington area, Dr. Macaulay returned in 1986 and began working at Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital.  She purchased the hospital in 1998.  She presently shares her home with a number of four legged friends.  Dr. Macaulay is a past president of the South Carolina Veterinary Association and the Cultural Council.  She attends St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lexington.  Dr. Macaulay enjoys sports; the outdoors, especially rock climbing in Wyoming; Broadway; and anything Disney-related. 

 

 

Dr. Heyward Boyette graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and joined Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital in 1998.  He became a partner at Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital in 2000.  Dr. Boyette has a wife and two daughters and serves on the board of Directors of the Carolina Ballet, is a member of St. Albans Church and the Lexington Rotary Club.  Dr. Boyette is an avid reader and also enjoys sketching and Ohio State football.

 

 

Dr. Crystal Knight has been with Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital since 2001.  She graduated from Clemson University in 1995 with a degree in Animal Science, and then attended University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2000.  She enjoys spending time on Lake Murray with her husband, Chris, and sons Creighton & Colden; reading; playing softball and volleyball; and playing the piano and handbells with her church. 

 

 

Dr. Mary Keisler graduated from Louisiana State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  She joined Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital in 1996.  Dr. Keisler is married and has 2 daughters, Lauren and Caroline.  Dr. Keisler is very active in the community.  She is a district representative for the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians, a member of the Board of Trustees and Booster Club Board at Heathwood Hall, on the President's Advisory Council at Wofford College, and is involved with her church council at St. Stephens Lutheran Church.  She enjoys meeting people and their pets and helping them when they are in need.

 

Dr. Kennerly Bast joined Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital in 2007.  She graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Animal Science.  She then attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri, and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.  Dr. Bast has a husband, Greg, and two children, Abigail and Kirk.  She enjoys spending time with her family and their two dogs.  She is an avid reader, and enjoys yoga.  Dr. Bast is also a supporter of families affected by autism. 

Dr Cara McKinnon grew up on a farm in Douglass, GA. She attended South Georgia Community College, where she played softball. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Valdosta State University. In 2010 she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a daughter along with a cat named Walter and a hamster named Rosie. She enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her daughter.
